Transitions in career

Start long before you even consider it.
Sometimes you aren’t even aware that you are moving in that path. You start to change as a “being.” What you formerly identified with and who you are now changing.
Some of the signs that are happening within you may include.
- An increasing disillusionment with the work you are performing along with a complete lack of fulfillment
- Creating justifications for missing meetings
- A profound sense of weariness and sluggishness
- Taking up a lot of time in the office for purposes other than
work - Questions like, “What else can I do ? “, seems to be taking a
lot of your mental space.
Before I shifted gear, I had been in this state for at least two years. I didn’t believe that was where I was going.
I would want to leave work early because I didn’t ‘t want to attend customer meetings or even just hang out with my team.
Even though I continued to do what I had to, I felt completely disconnected.
Change can suddenly start to appear; pay attention to what is going on.
The easiest way to know this, will be a change in your behavior.
If you are noticing anything about you is different and disconnected with work, maybe it’s time to ask and record this for at least two months.
- Why am I feeling this way in the first place?
- What is causing me to disconnect?
- What am I most lacking in this situation?
- What aspect of myself is lacking nourishment?
On the other hand, many of us are aware yet unaware.
That usually occurs when you lose touch with your inner voice due to fear of what may happen if you choose the untreaded path or the disappointment you may create in your near and dear ones. Your gut and intuition have been muted.
You may be aware that now is the right time and location to quit this, yet you still decide to ignore it!
It is normal to feel like this since any change brings in the fear of the unknown.
The question then to ask is:
- How long am I going to let myself be in this state?
- At a “being “level, how is it affecting me
- Where is the value misalignment and how can I get over this?
Career Change is tough especially when you have spent over a decade in one career and yet something in you is pushing you towards it. What will you now do to trudge the path that is UNKNOWN!
